December was a joyful and memorable month at Evergreen Academy Middle School, especially during our final week before winter break, when our school community truly came together to celebrate the season.
Students kicked off the festivities by decorating their advisory doors with the theme "Chicago Christmas", filling the hallways with creativity, school spirit, and holiday cheer. The advisory door decorating contest winners were 3rd place: Mrs. Li’s Advisory, 2nd place: Mrs. DiGiacomo’s Advisory, and 1st place: Mrs. Loerop’s Advisory. During Clubs, students worked hard preparing handmade and festive items to sell at Santa’s Workshop, which was a huge success—items sold quickly, and student excitement was high throughout the event.
School spirit continued with a much-anticipated volleyball tournament, which was open to all students and led up to the exciting student vs. teacher volleyball game, where a team of eighth-grade students took on our staff. The students played an impressive match and definitely made the teachers sweat! In the end, the teachers won two games to one, but not without a few worried moments—Ms. Guerrero-Diaz included.
On Thursday, families and friends enjoyed a fantastic performance by the Wild Tigers during their winter concert. The students put on a great show, showcasing their hard work and musical talent.
The celebrations continued on Friday with two performances of A Christmas Carol, presented by our students. We were thrilled to welcome Greene School 5th Grade, who joined us to watch the show alongside our students. The day wrapped up with classroom parties, giving students a chance to relax, celebrate, and enjoy time with their classmates.
All in all, it was a wonderful week filled with creativity, teamwork, performances, and holiday spirit. We are proud of our students and staff for making December such a special time at Evergreen Academy. We wish our entire school community a restful and joyful winter break!
